The second management meeting of ESCAPE was held in Italy.
The second international management meeting of the ESCAPE (Educational Spiritual Counselling Practices in European Prisons) project carried out within the scope of the European Union Erasmus+ Programme was held in Palermo, Italy on 19-21 September 2023.
The main objective of the ESCAPE project is to examine different practices in the field of spiritual guidance in the prison education systems of partner countries; to compile good practices that can be transferred and adapted to other countries; and to develop a scientifically based spiritual counselling methodology for the education and rehabilitation of young convicts.
In February 2023, after the kick-off meeting hosted by Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the field research questionnaire prepared by the partner institutions was applied by the four partner institutions to approximately 150 trainers, teachers and counsellors working directly or indirectly with young convicts.
In the second meeting where the final versions of the literature review and field research reports, which are the first outputs of the project, were discussed, the project activities to be carried out in the coming period were planned.
Within the scope of the meeting, the ESCAPE team made a study visit to the Palermo Courthouse and visited the museum built in memory of the famous Italian prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, the architects of the investigation against the Mafia organisation.
