During the long period between November 04 and November 15, 2023, the Turkish team carried out the last pilot implementation of the ESCAPE project.
First of all, the project team worked with experts working with young offenders in Kocaeli Probation Directorate between 04-08 November.
These experts had at least 10 years of professional experience and had worked in Prisons in the past years. The experts were selected based on their experience of working with women, men and children convicts/detainees and having worked in international and national projects in their field. These experts were psychologists, sociologists, social workers and teachers. The experts had the opportunity to try the techniques included in the project in the field within 5 days. They provided valuable feedback on the techniques they were first trained and then tried in the field.
Afterwards, the project team carried out a pilot application with 10 young convicts in Kocaeli Open Penal Institution between November 10-15. The project team divided the techniques in the ESCAPE project into 5-day periods and obtained valuable data by using different techniques every day. At the end of the 5th day, an evaluation survey was conducted with young convicts and the field application was finalized.
During 2 weeks, the data obtained from the field was reported by the project team between November 17-19 and the last pilot implementation was completed.
