The kick-off meeting of the ESCAPE Project was held between 1-2 February 2023
Within the scope of the European Union Erasmus Plus Program, the initial meeting of the “ESCAPE – Educational Spiritual Counseling Applications in Prisons of Europe” project, managed by the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, was held in Kocaeli, Türkiye.
Within the scope of the meeting attended by representatives of partner institutions from Spain, Italy and Romania, study visits were also held within Kocaeli Open Penal Institution and Kocaeli Probation Directorate. Ideas were exchanged about spiritual guidance practices.
The main purpose of the ESCAPE project is to conduct research on different practices in the field of spiritual guidance in the prison education systems of 4 different project partner countries. To compile good practices that can be transferred and/or adapted to other countries; and to develop a scientifically based spiritual counseling methodology for prisoner education. This methodology is aimed to make a concrete contribution to the efficiency of the education processes of convicts and to reducing the tendency to re-offend after release.
